Post Title: Farming Officer
Post Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week - 24 Month fixed term appointment. We are open to applications for part-time, flexible working, job share or secondment options

Farming has a special place in the Lake District: at the heart of its communities; a core part of the economy; and shaping the landscape over centuries that millions of people love to visit every year. It also has a vital part in the National Park’s future, delivering high quality food and livestock production, a healthy natural environment and a world
class cultural landscape.

The Lake District National Park Authority is looking to recruit a Farming Officer to enable a strong farming voice to help shape the future of the Lake District, to help develop and deliver practical projects with farmers, and to strengthen our relationships with the farming community. The post will work with farmers across the whole of the Lake District.

About you
You must have a good understanding of farming and commoning in the Lake District or other upland areas of the UK and of farming and farming policy in general, and have skills for developing and maintaining strong relationships with the farming community. You will work with farmers, farming groups and representatives, colleagues within the Lake District National Park Authority, and other partner organisations with a range of
different objectives. You will need to be able to access all areas of the Lake District.
