220 High yielding Holstein cows, 12,000 litres from 2x day milking, zero grazed. A new modern set up approximately 8-years-old with milking competed through a 24:24 DeLaval Parlour with Del-Pro and Uniform Agri records. The herd is NMR recorded. Sand cubicles, auto scrapers, high/low groups, dry cows, transition and young stock.
The herd is Genus RMS and a weekly routine foot trimmer visits the farm.
There is a dedicated young stock person, so needed to just oversee the calves and heifers.
The role will require the successful candidate to manage the milking herd, complete the milking routine, record keeping and manage the assistant staff and working students.
The applicant must be genuinely able to manager high yielding cows and complete all the tasks associated with herd health and care. The ability to milk twice daily and manage the relief staff when required and complete routine duties to keep the herd in good care and to good standards.
Lovely spacious 3-bed house on site with back and front gardens, mains gas supply, garage and very large workshop
The farm is part of the School of Veterinary Science, so there is an emphasis on student participation and research studies. Brand new machinery for associated tasks. CPD is encouraged as is farmers discussion groups.
