Pig and Poultry Technical Manager
Lloyd’s Register (LR) is a leading provider of feed, food and drink audit and certification services within the UK and internationally. We are proud to provide services for Livestock focused clients such as Quality Meat Scotland, Red Tractor and Arla.
We are seeking a highly motivated Pigs & Poultry Technical Manager to develop strong working relationships with key pig and poultry clients to ensure LR services are delivered in a technically excellent manner. This will be a lead role in supporting the expansion of LR’s pig and poultry certification services and key second party services as well as developing LR’s ‘non-certification’ services, particularly around client risk and industry trends. The Pig & Poultry Technical Manager will lead on working with LR Technical Account Managers on understanding the pig and poultry supply chain into hospitality and retail.
The role will be responsible for providing standards and industry technical expertise to LR’s Managers, client’s staff and assessors. Importantly, this role will provide a strong technical expertise in pig and poultry, sector input and related assurance. The Pig & Poultry Technical Manager must be able to impart their knowledge and experience in a timely and effective manner, including opinion pieces and published technical content as well as having a keen eye for data accuracy and timely delivery.
You will be able to demonstrate at least 10 years’ experience in the UK Pig and/or Poultry sector with specific experience in delivering animal welfare outcomes in the mono-gastric sector
A sound knowledge of the UK livestock supply chain and products is essential, as is awareness of the UK industry legislation and Codes of Practice and knowledge of farm assurance and related standards
You will have a distinct advantage, if you have been involved, as part of your career, in providing technical advice or auditing on legislation, codes of practice and industry based quality standards for production.
Given LR’s rapidly expanding international services you may from time to time be required to travel internationally to client sites to provide technical expertise as part of our service offer.
This is a home-based role, with visits to LR offices (primarily Edinburgh and Birmingham) as required. We can offer a highly competitive package to the right candidate.
