We require a herd manger/head herdsperson with previous experience in a similar role or looking to step up into a senior position. The farm has expanded over recent years with the development of additional cubicle and young stock housing with a shift in breeding policy to focus on cross breeding and utilising milk from grazed grass. However, in the past 6 months the farm has undergone a major transformation with brand new cubicle shed and parlour building containing a 25:50 Fullwood parlour.
The autumn cows are mainly Holstein or Holstein/ Norwegian X, with the spring calvers mainly being NZ Friesian. The split is circa 70 spring and 210 autumn. Springs are grass based and fed in the parlour. Autumns are out to graze in the summer and fed a TMR in the winter.
Whilst we are looking for someone with the relevant previous experience we are particularly looking for someone who can lead the team and who is thus an excellent communicator. You must also be a good grassland manager who can regularly plate measure. Foot and AI experience would be an advantage although not essential.
