Assistant Herd Manager
Misson Organic Dairying Ltd is a newly established Organic spring block calving farm set up on a green field site in 2017. This modern and progressive farm currently milks around 550 Friesian X cows yielding 5000-5500 litres. Key farm facts are as follows:
- 45/90 DeLeval parlour with Duovac and batch rate feeders.
- 300 hectare grazing platform with excellent infrastructure. Rotational grazing takes place throughout the year with self-feed silage and hay added in the winter.
- 120 replacements (circa 20% replacement rate) reared on farm until weaning and moved to a separate block thereafter.
- The breeding program is led in house with an AI tech serving in the busiest periods.
To assist the Farm Manager on maximising cow health and welfare and optimising profitability through the cost effective production of high standard organic milk. You will assist the farm manger in all areas with particular focus on; grassland management, herd health, young stock, milking, breeding and fertility.
The role will suit a good communicator with a willingness to take responsibility and train and motivate staff. The person will be a conscientious, enthusiastic with a positive attitude who is keen to learn and grow into the role. The person appointed will ensure that the dairy performs to the highest standards with a particular eye for attention to detail. You will have had previous dairy experience, preferably on
a grass based system.
This unit forms part of a large scale dairy operation which offers in house training and mentoring. The business supports training and development through numerous sources including; discussion groups, AHDB workshops, technical and management training.

Misson Dairying Ltd is located on the outskirts of Misson on the Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire border. It is less than 40 mins from Sheffield and York and both the Peak District and Sherwood Forest are accessible within an hour.
