A fantastic opportunity has arisen to manage a progressive spring block calving herd of mainly Friesian x Jersey cows in rural Staffordshire. We require a very enthusiastic and versatile Herd Manager to manage the day-day running of the herd and staff and maximise the amount of milk obtained from grazed grass.
The herd is milked through a 40-80 parlour; grazed for as long as the weather dictates (generally late Jan – late Nov) and are partly housed in cubicles and partly out-wintered during the winter. Regular grass measuring takes place on a weekly basis. All data is inputted onto software (AgriNet) to give a grass wedge.
The successful candidate will be a very enthusiastic person who leads by example and has very high standards in whatever they do. They must also have previous experience on a similar farm and be able to think for themselves and motivate and challenge staff to enable the unit to run smoothly.
In return for your efforts we offer a highly competitive salary with bonus schemes, regular time off and accommodation free from rent and council tax. The accommodation available is a lovely modern 3 bed family home on the farm, with central heating and double glazing.
