Working Farm Manager

Bishop Burton College is seeking an experienced, forward thinking manager for its 360 hectare mixed farm, capable of maximising the opportunities for students to develop the higher level technical skills demanded by industry. The role will include daily interaction with students, teaching staff and industry partners to ensure seamless knowledge transfer under the banner of the College’s Centre for Agricultural Innovation.

You will have excellent arable and livestock husbandry skills, together with a sound understanding of business management, farm records and accounts. This is an opportunity to be in at the beginning of an exciting journey for the College which is about to develop a multi-million £ centre of excellence for agri-technologies under the Government’s Institute of Technology initiative.

Utilising sustainable integrated farm management systems, you will deliver excellent arable and livestock performance comparable with commercial benchmarks. You will manage livestock systems which demonstrate the very best in animal welfare practices.

You will have excellent communication skills and the people skills necessary to effectively manage the farm staff team and to support student learning, both within the classroom and on the farm.
