Catchment Risk Management Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Catchment Risk Management Officer to join the Catchment Risk Management team in Chatham, with responsibility to help deliver the Company's promises to protect raw water quality at source, out in the upstream catchments, via Southern Water’s Catchment Management Compliance programme. This programme of work is focused on catchment risk evaluation, incident response and long term water quality risk mitigation. The programme covers technical areas of catchment management and surface and ground water quality and quantity.

The role holder will be based in Kent and responsible for the tactical response to water quality catchment incidents, including some data analysis and catchment walkover surveys; annual update and review of the catchment risk assessments; working directly with land owners/managers within the agricultural sector to mitigate catchment risks; working with agronomists to assess current and emerging risks; working with key stakeholders to develop/manage urban catchment schemes; and working collaboratively with neighbouring water companies to deliver catchment management programmes.

Suitable candidates will have an agronomic, agricultural or catchment management qualification / or equivalent experience. Demonstrable experience of forging strong relationships with farmers/stakeholders and knowledge of farm management and crops - including identification/rotations/soil management etc. GIS experience would be beneficial. BASIS Soil & Water or FACTS qualifications are beneficial but not essential. This role will be based in Kent, candidates are required to have a full driving licence and access to their own vehicle.
