Reporting to the Development & Training Centre Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Working in line with Health & Safety standards, policies and procedures
  • Preparing growing medium and seed beds using a variety of crops and materials
  • Ensure plants are irrigated in a routine matter, using either water or the appropriate nutrient solutions, prepared from laboratory grade chemicals
  • Assist with the application of foliar fertilizers, granular fertilizer and seed treatments during the trials and for demonstration plants
  • Harvesting trials, collecting data and prepare plant samples for analysis
  • Presenting local trials and demonstrations to visitors to the glasshouse

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to learn and grow in competence within the fertilizer and agronomic business.

We will provide support and opportunity for the experiences required for passing the Apprenticeship, and in return you will need to be a self-starter and gain additional farming experience outside the working environment.


We will pay the apprenticeship hourly rate for Year 1 and all course fees for the two years

The ideal candidate should have:

  • GCSE level 4 or above in Maths and English
  • Show a keen interest in agronomy / plant physiology
  • Ideally have some experience working with crops / plants.
