Exciting opportunities have arisen to join Myerscough College as a Lecturer in Agriculture - 1 full time equivalent post based at Ullswater Community College, Penrith and 2 full time equivalent posts at the Preston Campus. The posts may be flexible part time roles for the right candidates.
As a Lecturer in Agriculture, you will deliver a mix of practical (on-farm) and classroom agriculture subjects to Further Education students (typically introductory to A-level equivalent standard). Subjects include livestock husbandry, tractors and machinery, estate skills, dairy, beef and sheep, crops, grassland, agri-business, environment and science (soil, plant & animal)
The College has a 300 hectare farm with a 200 cow dairy unit, 1500 sheep and 60 suckler beef cattle with associated grassland and forage crops. The farm has recently benefitted from LEP funding with a Food Farming Innovation and Technology centre including out-of-parlour-feeders, computerised real-time milk analysis, computerised calf feeding/rearing, computerised feed intake bins, Auto ID and computerised weighing of beef and dairy. There are a range of modern tractors and machines that are used in practical machinery operation.
If you have not worked in education before but believe you have the skills to do so, and are willing to undertake teacher training to attain a recognised teaching qualification, we would be very keen to hear from you. This post is supported by the Taking Teaching Further project, which provides enhanced support for candidates applying from industry, including mentoring and support with the costs of teaching qualifications.

The roles are 37 hours – flexible/part time working hours would be considered
The salary range is £20,709 - £30,179 per annum, relating to qualifications and experience. Teacher qualified commence at £24,345 per annum. Fractional post are pro rata
