Stockperson/Relief Milker/Tractor Driver

We have an exciting and varied contract vacancy for this pivotal position on a 320-cow autumn block calving herd near Holsworthy in West Devon.

The herd is very well managed by the herd manager who has been running this herd for nearly 15 years now.   Cows are milked through a modern 20:40 Westphalia parlour, calve in a block through September, October and November and are housed through the winter in cubicles when they are self-fed grass and maize silage with a cake top up in parlour.   Turnout is early (most years!), and a paddock system of grazing is used with grass measured weekly.  We require someone who, with a flexible and “can do” attitude, will integrate seamlessly into the small, happy, team and take pride in their work.

This is primarily a stock role with yard work, scraping, milking and caring for youngstock to the fore, but particularly during the summer months, there will be some tractor work – fertilising, slurry tankering, mowing, topping, buckraking etc.  A telehandler ticket would be desirable.

An excellent package is on offer for the successful applicant to include regular time off, generous salary and a very good, recently updated 3-bedroom bungalow in a quiet rural setting with stunning views about a mile from the farm and no more than a mile and a half from the market town of Holsworthy, which will be provided free from rent and council tax.
