A dedicated and enthusiastic herdsperson is required for a family run farm situated between Trowbridge and Devizes in Wiltshire.  The successful applicant will assume milking duties for the 250-cow herd, and will be responsible for AI, foot trimming, mastitis control, herd health and record keeping.

The herd is predominately autumn calved with a small spring block and is milked through a 24:24 Westphalia herringbone parlour fitted with auto ID, ACR's, ADF and feeders.  The herd has been crossbred in recent years with sires used including Holstein Friesian (grazing type), Swedish Red with a small amount of Brown Swiss and Jersey.  Cows are partial TMR fed in winter, with the emphasis very much on milk from grass during the grazing season, this achieves a creditable herd average of around 8000 litres per cow.

The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate recent experience in a similar role as well as being able to operate in a clean and organised fashion.

In return an excellent package is on offer to include regular time off, a very well appointed, spacious, 3-bedroom house, with central heating and double glazing, on farm, and a salary commensurate with the position.
