Operations Manager - Large Scale Dairy Farm

An opportunity has arisen for a rare and unique position as an operations manager on a large-scale progressive dairy farm in northern Cumbria.   The varied role covers managing and maintaining all aspects of the plant, general infrastructure and machinery on an 1800 cow dairy unit and AD plant near Brampton, Carlisle.  The modern and progressive farm has enjoyed continued investment over the last 15 years and is highly mechanised.  The role would include, but not limited to, AD plant operations, managing deliveries and goods in, filling of milk tankers, formulating maintenance schedules and undertaking proactive maintenance for machinery, milking parlour and plant, AD plant, buildings and infrastructure.  You would manage deliveries such as feed and raw material including weigh bridge, storage and bunkering.  Aside from this, you will undertake telehandler operations and relief TMR feeding and assist the herd manager at times with general livestock tasks. You will be a senior member of the team and work alongside the herd manager, report to the owners and liaise with contractors, delivery drivers and engineers etc.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have a can-do attitude and be proactive in their approach to keeping the complex infrastructure well-maintained and operational. You will have a variety of practical skills and knowledge of mechanics, electrics and farm plumbing would be a huge advantage.  You will be a good communicator, flexible and take a great deal of pride in your work and embrace the variety that this unusual role offers. Telehandler experience is a must and experience of working with livestock highly desirable.
