Position: Arable Foreman / Tractor Driver
Hours: Full time - 48 hours per week
Salary: £30,298 - £31,820 (A36 - A38)
Reaseheath College is looking to recruit a highly motivated Arable Foreman / Tractor Driver to join our farm team. Answerable to the Farm manager, the successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the Farms operation with specific focus on the Arable and machinery-based operations.
We are a mixed farm consisting of Dairy, Beef, Sheep and 600-acre Arable departments. Our main role is to act as a teaching resource for the Agriculture department and the wider college.
The Arable operation is based around 600 acres of Tenanted and owned land. The main purpose of the Arable operation is the provision of high-quality forages feeding into all three of the farm’s livestock enterprises alongside our sizable equine department and Zoo The farm is currently in year two of a transition away from conventional tillage and planting to a more sustainable model of arable farming with significant focus on environmental impact, biodiversity net gain and innovation.
The successful candidate would be comfortable in the daily machinery and workshop operations required on the livestock enterprises whilst at the same time have the drive and experience to realise the wider vision for the Arable portion of the estate both by introducing and utilising more modern technology and by data analysis and decision making. The role would require someone to be comfortable in conducting and feeding back on trail and innovation projects by both college groups and external bodies.
As a team member you will be responsible for the ensuring that the Farm delivers the learner experience that is required by the Agricultural Curriculum department and wider college whilst ensuring the farm operates to the very highest standards as a commercial unit. As such some instructing of students in farm tasks will be required. The farm Team is also responsible for growing and maintaining the brand of Reaseheath both as a college and a farming business, engaging with industry and returning new industry thinking to the college.
This is an exciting and engaging Role. The successful candidate will not only be able to operate at the top of UK arable production but have the ability to directly influence the next generation entering the sector. Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this.
