Your chance to join a forward-thinking dairy enterprise and work alongside energetic herd manager.
We are looking for a positive, experienced herdsperson to join our young team on a dairy enterprise in South Leicestershire. Key responsibilities will include milking, foot trimming, herd health & fertility, general stock husbandry tasks and assisting with the day-to-day running of the herd.
The farm currently milks 300 cows and the herd is mainly block calved in late spring and is made up of robust Friesian X cattle producing milk on a premium solids contract. Making the most from forage the focus will be on profitable, sustainable milk production with emphasis on high herd welfare.
The excellent facilities include:
- 24:48 parlour with ACR’s
- Cubicles for 300 cows
- Straw yards for calving
- Excellent cow tracks and grazing infrastructure
We are looking for:
- A flexible and positive attitude
- Team player
- Experience in a similar role
- AI certificate (pref)
- Foot trimming experience/certificate
Attitude and willingness to learn is essential, training will be offered to the right person for essential skills. There is an emphasis on continuous personal development and active involvement in a number of dairy discussion groups is encouraged.
