We have a new vacancy for an experienced herdsperson on a family farm a few miles east of Worcester. The 650-acre mixed farm has a pedigree herd of 180 cows milked through a 20/20 parlour. The closed herd has an average of 10,500 litres, milked 2x/day on a TMR ration with additional feed in the parlour with the milk being sold on a premium contract. Cows calve all year round using sexed semen and beef with replacements reared on farm and other calves sold at 4 weeks of age. The cows are housed in modern straw bedded cubicles and grazed in the summer months.
The role would include milking, AI and foot trimming along with the day-to-day management, as well as organising the fortnightly vet visits. With low cell counts and bactoscans, attention to detail is a must.
