We are looking for a skilled engineer to join our team in Alnwick. As a service engineer with Scot JCB, you will visit a variety of customer sites throughout the area to carry out maintenance, repairs and services on our customers machines to a high standard.

We sold our first machine in 1956 and have grown into a highly specialised machinery distribution company operating through a network of 17 depots from Fraserburgh in the North East of Scotland to Carnforth in Lancashire. Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Repairing and maintaining machines on customers sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specification
  • Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily on a laptop computer
  • Accurately ordering of your parts and working closely with the parts department.
  • Working closely with the service supervisor
  • Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use
  • Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Relevant experience and qualifications. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ qualifications in Construction Plant Maintenance
  • Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment 
  • Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
  • Good IT skills 
  • A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work

In return you will receive:  

  • 39-hour basic working week and competitive overtime rates:
          - Monday to Friday - time and a half for the first four hours after completing a normal working day, and thereafter double time until the completion of continuous working
          - Saturday - time and a half for the first four hours or until 12.00 noon, whichever occurs first, and thereafter double time
