The Hean Castle Estate is seeking a General Farm Worker / Stockperson for our herd of pedigree Hereford Cattle, which currently numbers approximately 230 head.
The successful applicant will be expected to assist the Herd Manager with all aspects of suckler cow husbandry, from calving through to finishing. They will assist with the day to day running of the herd as well as management of the land.
They must be experienced in the operation of tractors and telehandlers, together with a variety of implements including feeding and bedding, grassland harvest and cultivation equipment, and will be happy to undertake fieldwork.
The Herd uses a variety of progressive breeding techniques including AI and ET, is HiHealth accredited, and is active in the show ring. The first phase of a new livestock unit has just been completed, with first class housing, handling and calving facilities.
Enthusiasm and a strong work ethic, combined with a cheerful, outgoing personality and an eye for detail are prerequisites together with high standards of presentation and workplace tidiness. Exceptional references will be required and will be rigorously followed up.
