Farm Details: Dean Hall Dairy (DHD) is a forward-looking farm now investing in more cows and in 200 cubicles and indoor feed fence, currently milking 460 cows through a 24/48 in a split block (Spring/Autumn). 240 hectares of grass, 180 grazed Feb - Dec with excellent grazing infrastructure. 130 replacements are reared annually on a forage-based system. The breeding program using sexed semen is led in house.
The farm team led by the Farm Manager, which also includes an AD plant, comprises 5 full time, an apprentice and relief staff.
Role Details: The role is to lead a team of 4 staff building long term profitability as the herd grows and the litres sold increase from 3.2 to 4.0 million over 3 years. Cow fertility is at the centre of a profitable milk production business. This requires well fed healthy cows and high-quality replacements. The person type is referred to on the role description sheet
The Candidate: The person will be a good communicator who takes responsibility to train and motivate his team. (S)he will be a conscientious, enthusiastic person with a positive attitude who is keen to grow the role. The person appointed will have an eye for attention to detail.
Support/Training: Continued professional development for all staff is fully supported by the business. Individual training is facilitated through membership of a small bespoke dairy discussion group, with staff attendance at AHDB workshops encouraged. The person will be expected to participate in all dairy management discussions.
Accommodation: Accommodation is provided in an excellent 3-bedroom house on the farm. This has a new electric heat pump heating and is free from rent or council tax.
Location: Dean Hall is located on the A616 near Caunton and 5 miles from both Newark and Southwell with excellent local Schools leisure centres and retail.
