Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) is looking for a part-time Project Officer to deliver conservation activities in Wales, primarily our Calon Gwenyn ‘Bee Heart’ project. Calon Gwenyn is a partnership project with Calon Wen, an organic dairy farming cooperative.

Aim 2 of our 2019 to 2024 strategic plan is ‘to increase the quality and quantity of bumblebee habitat’. Working alongside the Conservation Officer (Wales) and Senior Conservation Officer, the new Project Officer will support that aim by providing land management advice and practical support to farmers and other landowners in Wales.

You will have a background in an environmental, ecological or agricultural subject area (e.g. a degree and/or equivalent knowledge and experience) and relevant experience of habitat conservation, delivering habitat management advice and a good understanding of agricultural issues. You will have experience working with farmers and other land managers and will have a good knowledge of farming systems in Wales, ideally within the dairy and/or organic sector.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated with knowledge of pollinator ecology and good field and botanical skills. You will have strong communication skills and will be able to develop effective working relationships with farmers, partner organisations and other stakeholders.

The position will be based from home (ideally in north-east Wales or within a short travelling distance) or a hot-desk location. The role requires regular travel throughout the project area.

Please refer to the job description and person specification for more details of the role which can be found on our website vacancy page along with the application pack.

The Trust recruits, employs, trains and promotes regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, disability, age, and other protected status. We pride ourselves on reaching for our vision – to reverse the decline in bumblebees, through the hard work and dedication of our passionate and creative employees.
