Following the retirement of our longstanding herdsman we have a contract vacancy for a herdsperson to join a small team and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of this 120 cow, summer / autumn calved unit currently producing 8000ltrs. The herd forms the main enterprise on this 400-acre traditional farm however 100 acres of arable provide forage in the form of whole crop and a rotation for reseeding leys.  The facilities provide good working conditions and include recently installed comfort cubicles which are bedded on chopped straw and a 10/10 HB high level jar parlour within parlour feeders and ACR’s.  The cows are required to make maximum use of grazing however a TMR ration is available for buffer as required during grazing.
The ideal candidate will have a good mix of technical skills, stockmanship and practical ability ensuring that the highest standards of health & welfare are maintained across the entire herd. Foot trimming skills would be a definite advantage however training could be provided, and the AI is currently outsourced.
A 3-bedroom detached bungalow with large garden and stunning views and central heating is available on the unit free from rent, rates, and council tax.
