Agricultural Liaison Officers

FGP are looking for ALO’s to work on cross country construction projects as the vital site link between farmer landowners, engineers and FGP Land Agents. This is a fast moving varied job needing enthusiasm with knowledge of farming and the countryside.

FGP provide site based trained Agricultural Liaison Officers for infrastructure construction projects. The ALO provides a vital link to other FGP professionals who achieve exceptional progress for clients to enable important infrastructure projects to proceed. 

The FGP team of professionals display diversity and individualism. As well as a disciplined approach to negotiations, an important part of the work gives the opportunity to advise clients on the use and protection of land. Most of our staff have agricultural or estate management backgrounds giving a sound basis for advice on a wide variety of land and environmental issues.

  • A working understanding of the numerous Acts of Parliament governing infrastructure
  • Sound agricultural and environmental knowledge
  • Valuations as registered valuers of all property types
  • Excelling in negotiations for land purchase and compensation settlements
  • Arranging access onto land for construction teams
  • Providing specialist advice on land reinstatement and drainage
  • GIS mapping and service location
  • Extrapolation of land title information and referencing of landowners
  • Inspecting existing infrastructure apparatus
  • Advising on achieving net zero carbon status and carbon offsets
  • Looking after our clients and keeping their projects moving
  • Agricultural Liaison Officers providing the link between the site engineer, the FGP Land Agent and the occupier of the land.

FGP is based in Knutsford in Cheshire. The central UK location has good transport links to all parts of the UK giving the whole team a single office base. FGP work for clients all over the country allows the team to experience a variety of communities and landscapes.

At FGP we work with two goals in mind – firstly to satisfy client need gaining access to land to enable energy and infrastructure projects to proceed; secondly to assist clients in protecting the environment and land once access is gained.

Training is a key component of staff development, enabling FGP to thrive internally and externally providing services for clients.
All members of the team are encouraged to consistently increase their knowledge and skills.

Job Description

Your role will involve:

  • Working on cross country construction projects throughout the UK on a day to day basis
  • Assessing how engineering operations might impact on an occupiers farming and suggesting ways to reduce that impact
  • Explaining to farmers how the engineering operations will affect farming so that both parties can work out ways to mitigate impact
  • Relating to commercial, forestry, residential, public areas or sports fields when encountered
  • Co-coordinating entry onto private land for surveyors and construction crews
  • Preparing Records of Condition
  • Conducting pre-entry meetings with landowners and occupiers
  • Supervising soil handling operations, land drainage installation, environmental mitigation works, fencing and boundary work
  • Supervising reinstatement work
  • Assisting all FGP departments with on site management including input into the progress of FGP in the industry within sustainability targets
  • Progress monitoring and reporting to FGP Land Agents
  • Keeping client representatives informed
  • Taking part and contributing towards FGP’s sustainability and net zero carbon goals
  • Assisting with CAT (Cable Avoidance Tool) surveys for below ground service location
  • An ALO must be adaptable to adopt or cover any site role

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • An interest in the energy and infrastructure industry and progression towards a net zero carbon target
