Herd Manager
900 COWS – Nr Shrewsbury
Ref:  RSweb2423

We are re-advertising this job due to the previous successful candidate having to pull out due to unforeseen circumstances.

We are looking for an Assistant herd manager who values a good work-life balance and who wants to work with a fantastic team in a stunning part of Shropshire.

We require an already versatile and skilled herdsperson who wants to grow into full herd management within time by working alongside the existing team on a modern and progressive green field dairy farm between Shrewsbury and Welshpool in Shropshire. The farm has a 50-point rotary parlour with; in-parlour feeders, ACRs, shedding gate and backing gate to milk the 900 Holstein x Friesian split-block calving cows yielding 8,500 litres from TMR and grazed grass. Modern, well thought out cow housing and great mechanisation make this a very efficient farm with excellent working conditions.

Key tasks will include being responsible for the milking routine to ensure high standards of quality and cleanliness are maintained, drying off, youngstock work and the recording of vet and med usage.

The successful candidate will be someone who is driven by a passion for wanting to succeed in whatever they do, but also has a proven track record in attention to detail and be able to communicate well with the team. In return we offer a competitive salary with bonus schemes, a truly stunning 5-bed bungalow is set in 2.8 acres of its own land with beautiful views, 3 stables, outbuildings and an enormous shed. It is double glazed, oil centrally heated and within easy walking distance of the farm.
