We are looking to appoint someone to take a leading role in all field operations and machinery maintenance and care on our family farm in the Vale of Taunton, Somerset.
1900 acres farmed, growing Wheat (600 acres) Spring Barley, Maize (320 acres) and Grass.

The priority is to provide top quality forage for our 750 cows spread over 2 units plus Heifer replacements and beef cattle. The growing of the crops and machinery management, servicing, and workshop duties. Utilising modern John Deere equipment, a good understanding of Greenstar, My John Deere mapping and operations software as well as muddy boots crop records would be an advantage. All operations are carried out in house and duties will include, Mowing (Triple mowers), Self-Propelled harvesting (8000 series forage harvester), Baling (MF 2170), Relief Combining (T560), Drilling (Mzuri and V Tempo) all solid fertiliser applications and help out with liquid fertiliser and chemical applications using a Bateman RB26 with autosteer and section control. Occasional relief TMR feeding (Kuhn 24 cube twin tub) and Farm building and maintenance projects.

The role will be working alongside the business owner and the two herd managers gradually taking on more responsibility as you grow into the role. We run a team of 10 across the farms with 3 main machinery operators looking after field work and maintenance.
