About ABP:
ABP UK is part of the ABP Food Group, which is one of Europe`s leading privately owned food processors. We work with a network of over 45,000 farmers and are renowned for paying our suppliers on the day of delivery at strategically located local abattoirs that minimise animal transport distances. ABP Food Group contributes an estimated €1.3bn each year into the rural economies in which it operates. We understand that the farmers who supply meat to us are vital partners in ensuring that the quality of our product is maintained, and traceability is ensured. Our livestock buyers play a vital role in maintaining the lamb supply chain. Their agricultural expertise in buying the right lambs at the right price whilst maintaining superb relationships with our suppliers is key to us delivering the correct specification of lamb to our customers.

To support the growth of our Kingswinford site, we are now seeking a Trainee Livestock Buyer to join our already successful procurement team. If you have experience of working on farm (ideally lamb/sheep) and have worked in a customer facing/territory management, sales or procurement position, this could be the opportunity you`ve been looking for. There will be a requirement to liaise and coordinate with multiple stakeholders from farmers to vets, abattoir teams to sales and planning so the key to your success will be your enthusiasm, strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as your ability to build strong working relationships across the board.

The job will be a mixture of office and field based.
• The ideal candidate will have experience within the livestock industry and be keen to develop their knowledge of livestock rearing and of red meat processing, however applications will be considered from individuals who can demonstrate sales / purchasing / negotiation experience within other agricultural sectors such as feed, livestock, agricultural machinery / services.

• Be process driven with excellent attention to detail
• Experience of negotiating prices is preferable but not essential
