Laboratory Deputy Nightshift Manager

The Role:

The Laboratory Deputy Nightshift Manager will form part of the Laboratory Management team responsible for   providing guidance, training and instruction, direction and leadership to a team of laboratory technicians.  They will have the purpose of managing the processes involved in registering and analysing samples and authorising results in accordance with Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and to customers agreed service levels.  Carrying out your duties you will be required to work on a shift consisting of a seven on/seven off night shift.  You will also be required to attend meetings and laboratory visits which may take place outside you normal hours of work.

We require 5 + years experience in a lab or manufacturing environment or similar industry.  We will also need 3+ years experience in a supervisor/ management role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line manager staff under the guidance and in the absence of the nightshift manager
  • Support and give guidance to Managers, Supervisors and Colleagues
  • Ensure samples are registered, tested and results entered in accordance with SOP’s and working practices
  • To train all laboratory staff in new laboratory methods and amendments to existing ones
  • Assist the Quality Unit in maintaining training records for all Laboratory Technicians
  • Monitor, update and communicate Standard Operating Procedures and any changes that are issued through the quality system
  • Assist the laboratory’s aim for UKAS accreditation according to the timescale set by Laboratory Management and Laboratory Quality function
  • Provide assistance with both internal and external customer testing issues associated with the laboratory
  • Ensure that available equipment operates to maximum efficiency
  • Projection of a professional image to staff and customers
  • Deal appropriately with internal and external customer queries
  • To assist in ensuring that all staff observe and follow company policies
