We have contract vacancy for an enthusiastic assistant herdsperson to help the herd manger on a day-to-day basis milking 300 crossbred cows via a fully automated Lely robotic unit, with automated feeding, near Wincanton in Somerset. This is an exceptional opportunity to get into robotic herd management.

The herd is yielding above 10,000 litres with very high components supplying in house quality cheese production and calving all year round, on a full TMR with access to grazing.

Housing consists of mattress cubicles with locking yokes and auto scraping.

The appointed person will need to be willing to be trained up to work with robots, and also full training can be provided for foot trimming and AI.  All other stock related tasks will be performed to include drying off, calving, bedding down etc.  An ability to use a quad bike and telehandler is beneficial.

A 3-bedroom bungalow, 1.5 miles off farm, will be supplied along with a competitive package.
