Farm Manager / Contractor

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Working Farm Manager / Contractor to take our business forward, anticipating and embracing the changing agricultural opportunities.

Coltpark Farms is a diversified farming business covering 1,450 acres in mid Northumberland. The all grass farms include upland sheep, suckler cows and red deer enterprises.

There is also an enterprise of let properties and in-hand woodland, managed by the partners and a separate holiday cottage.

Farm manager: Job description

  • Day to day management of farming enterprises reporting to Sam Orde
  • Managing such contractors as used and maintenance of the property, including the water supply
  • Profitable running of farm enterprises, financial planning, budgeting and marketing
  • Long term planning and policy in conjunction with Sam and Michael Orde and with Savills farming advice
  • Manage and motivate staff of two full time employees and lambing help
  • Record keeping for statutory, management and financial records (workload shared with Sam Orde)
  • Ensuring safe working policies, practices and implementation
  • Co-operation with estate activities and aims
  • Carrying out the agreed farm strategy

  • To maintain the farm’s position in the top quartile of Newcastle University’s benchmarking reports (or their successor).
