Job Details

We require someone looking to progress within the industry who can take on this position of working closely with the owners looking after 600 cows in East Devon. We seek someone to take an active part in the advancement of the herd and grow into the role of head herdsperson.

The farm is located in a stunning part of East Devon with easy access to the A30/A303. Cows are managed for yield being TMR fed and milked twice daily through a modern 24:48 Westphalia plant with auto ID and shedding, milk meters and ADF. Yields are approaching 10,000 litres, with cows bedded on cubicle mattresses with sawdust topping. The herd is pedigree and classified.

The role will centre round doing morning milking, calving and general herd health. AI and foot trimming are currently carried out in house. We would prefer the successful candidate to be experienced in these but training can be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their large herd experience, in a position offering autonomy within a well-supported framework. In return you will be rewarded with above average time off, a salary reflecting the importance of the role, and good on-farm accommodation which will be provided free from rent and council tax.

For an informal discussion please call Henry Hare on 07531 335294.
