This is your opportunity to share, shape and implement the strategy and growth of one of Australia's largest family-owned mixed farming businesses. Your job is to provide the vision and leadership to deliver its goal to double in size over the coming years.

You will join the senior management team of a highly profitable agricultural enterprise with a diverse but carefully aligned portfolio of farming businesses and properties generating annual revenues of $50 million+. Culture comes from the family-based values of openness, honesty, working together and farming for environmental sustainability.

You will have the autonomy that a great senior leader deserves, but the support that the family board provides when you need it. Based in one of the most scenic parts of Australia, you will be well rewarded with a generous salary, bonus and package.

This role is for someone who is a proven and astute business leader, someone who knows agriculture and can talk the language of farming. Most importantly, you will be someone who is more interested in leadership and operational performance rather than in the colour of tractors. You will be responsible for the operational performance and profitability of all enterprises to hit the goal of a $100+ million farming business.

Senior Manager - Responsibilities:

  • Provide inspired leadership across the business
  • Implement direction, policy and business strategy
  • Work closely with the Executive Chairman/Family Board to help deliver the vison of the Family
  • Report to the board of directors and keep them informed on operational and financial performance and business development against plans
  • Ensure the continuation and further development of the company's cultural values objective of building a world class mixed farming operation within a safe and supportive working environment for all employees
  • Manage and develop staff, including developing future leaders. This will be a critical component of success for this role
  • Create an environment that promotes great performance and positive morale
  • Play a central role the company's fiscal activities, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing
  • Ensure compliance in all policy areas, by ensuring all legal and regulatory documents are filed with laws and regulations being fully monitored
  • Lead a safety culture and adhere to WHS policies and legislation
  • Work with the executive board to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals
  • Identify and address challenges and opportunities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the company
  • Build the human resource department to ensure great hiring

CEO Requirements:

  • Proven successful experience in a senior management position
  • A good working knowledge of or experience in agricultural supply chain, production or farming
  • High functional ability in P&L, balance sheet and cash flow management, plus general finance and budgeting
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and the workforce
  • Great understanding of human resources and personnel management
  • Experience with corporate governance
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Degree or master's degree in a relevant discipline or MBA
  • Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions
  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate

  • Critical thinker, innovative, able to find solutions and anticipate potential problems
