We have a contract vacancy for an enthusiastic, experienced, assistant herdsperson to work alongside head herdsperson on a 300-cow herd of organic cows in North Dorset.
The farm is part of a mixed farming enterprise that is family managed and operated, running four organic dairy herds on Arla contracts. This herd is milked in a 20-40 Fullwood parlour with ACR’s, with all new handling facilities and updated housing.
The herd is summer/autumn calving with maximum production from grazing when conditions allow, and a grass based TMR while housed. Cubicle housing is available with sawdust beds over mattresses.
The appointed person, who will have a can-do attitude with cows, is expected to be a team player, easy going and capable of working with the head herdsperson.
A new 3-bedroom semi-detached house, in the village, is available, alongside a competitive salary.
