Herdsperson / Possible Profit Share

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced herdsperson to join, and ultimately run, this family farm in mid-Devon.  

The farm extends to just under 220 acres and is all grass.  The herd of up to 220 is cross bred, mainly autumn calved and grazed for as much of the season as possible.  Cows are milked through a 14:28 Millfoss parlour and housed in winter in cubicles with easy feed and self-feed silage; all concentrates are fed in parlour.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of decision making as well as working with the owners.  You will be proficient in clean milk production from grass, AI, foot trimming, herd health, grassland management and record keeping. The farm is in a secluded position but within easy reach of amenities – the town of Crediton is around 3 miles.  

Part of a divided farmhouse is available along with a salary reflecting the importance of the role.  We envisage that after a settling in period discussions can commence about a profit share/joint venture to take the business forward.  In the first instance, expressions of interest are invited for what is likely to be a highly sought after role.
