An exciting opportunity awaits you on the Chatsworth Estate. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated shepherd with a strong team spirit to join our modern and progressive sheep unit.

As a Shepherd you will become an integral part of our close-knit team, working alongside the Head Shepherd and Farm Manager. You will undertake all tasks associated with the care and management of our flock of 2500 ewes lambing both indoors and outdoors. All progeny are taken through to finishing and the majority of sheep are wintered away on forage crops 20 miles away at a separate unit.    

You may also be required to assist with cattle on the estate from time to time, maintain sheep equipment, buildings, handling facilities and other associated machinery.  You will also assist with the management of sheep behind electric fencing throughout the winter, to include electric fencing.

You should have an intrinsic knowledge of sheep, their well-being and management and have current shepherding experience along with your own working dogs or willing to work towards having working dogs.  You must have flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of the role, including living on-site or within close proximity to the Estate.  You will hold a full driving license and able to tow a livestock trailer.  You will have experience of operating tractors and other agricultural vehicles.
