General Farm Worker / Dairy Assistant in Oxfordshire Ref 2228
This long established family farm offers an excellent opportunity for a general farm work/ dairy assistant role. There is no milking necessary as part of the role, with daily duties consisting of a mix of work, from yard work, scrapping, bedding and calf rearing. Throughout the year the role will vary depending on the time of year, to include general maintenance duties such as fencing, grassland field work, slurry tanking and various stock work.
This is a family run farm who welcome entry level agricultural students and trainee level who have the right attitude and commitment to learning the routine, system and new skills in order to fulfil the role required.
The role is not limited to details above, and if someone wants to learn other aspects, including the milking, then working alongside the herdsman can be accommodated to further a candidates skills if keen.
The farm is well equipped and Milking is completed twice daily in a 28:28 herringbone parlour of 200 pedigree Holstein Friesian cows with 100 followers. A mix of TMR and grazing system is in operation.
Our client wants to hire an applicant with basic experience who is willing to train up on the successful farm systems in place and who will work well with the existing Herdsman and family members.
The most important attribute to this farm, is a candidate with enthusiasm and interest to learn the skills and system; working as a team on this 200 cow unit.
Working hours would be 40-50hrs per week, with regular breaks and time off. You would not be expected to work over 50hrs.

A basic level of stock and dairy experience preferable with a willingness to learn and progress.
Calf rearing and young stock work interest and ability
Telehandler experience required.
Drivers licence preferable due to the location of the farm, limited public transport from the village.
Mobile home, would need own transport
This is a contract position, where the successful person will operate as an agency worker with Farm Solutions. This means that the person will not have sub-contractor responsibilities and all statutory tax deductions and payments will be made by Farm Solutions on their behalf. Hourly pay operates, which includes pay for overtime hours worked.
