The Farm:
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic herdsperson to take on some responsibility on this high yielding, well managed commercial herd of 280 cows, calving all year around. 

This farm truly puts its money where its mouth is when it comes to herd health, they have excellent herd housing facilities, with the farm always looking to undertake improvements and investment.

This role is focused on the herd health and performance and will work closely together with the farm manager/owner. Team effort is very important on this farm, with all team members to work towards a cohesive team and working towards the same goals

The Role:
The successful applicant will undertake a few milkings per week, in order to see cow performance of 280 cows, currently 250 cows in milk. Full time milking staff in place. Monitor and assist cow calvings as and when required.

Maintain and monitor the farm records for herd costings feed and milk, liaise with the farm nutritionist and farm manager/owner. We are aiming for a milk sold figure of 10500 litres per cow on twice a day milking. Potential involvement in forage management and conservation in the future as this has a massive impact on the herd performance.

Run the fertility management of the herd, involving the organisation of the routine fertility visit, herd records and the AI of the cows. AI qualification preferred, but training can be required if an applicant is keen and willing


The Applicant:
 The successful applicant will be:
- AI trained preferential 
- herdsperson experience, ability to detect and treat any ailments
- calving 
- foot trimming/ monitoring
- record keeping
Accommodation: 
Flat accommodation currently available for this role in neighbouring village

We will support training days away from the farm should anyone find any of interest.


This is a contract position, where the successful person will operate as an agency worker with Farm Solutions. This means that the person will not have sub-contractor responsibilities and all statutory tax deductions and payments will be made by Farm Solutions on their behalf. Hourly pay operates, which includes pay for overtime hours worked.
