Business Development Manager

Cawood Scientific Ltd, incorporating the laboratory divisions of NRM, Sciantec, Sci-tech, Mambo-tox and Enitial is the UK’s largest independent provider of analytical data to the Agricultural, Horticultural, Amenity and Environmental sectors. Operating from six locations in the UK, it employs approx. 350 staff, covering all aspects of a company focussed on providing high quality data and first class customer service.

The growth of the company over the last few years has resulted in the need to increase the available resource within the Business Development team and therefore we are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to join the current Business Development team at the NRM division.

Role Description

To work within the Business Development Team to develop and implement the sales and marketing activities of the company. NRM is based at Bracknell, Berkshire however the role is open to candidates based nationally.

Key Objectives

  •  To be an integral member of the Business Development team, helping to deliver revenue and profit growth
  •  To create, maintain and support close relationships with our customers in the realisation of a truly customer-centric business
  •  To drive, support and promote new initiatives, products and services from NRM and the wider Cawood Group to return value to the Business
  •  To support and facilitate customer projects/R&D Developments within NRM

Key Tasks

  •  To establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, which reflect the vision of the company
  •  Maintain regular contact with key customers, arranging and attending meetings, telephone & video calls where required
  •  To respond to and follow up on sales and customer enquiries using appropriate methods
  •  To work with Laboratory Operations and Customer Services to ensure delivery of agreed service levels and appropriate account management
  •  To update and maintain customer documents
  •  To carryout research and investigations into Market Sectors, Industry Areas and Competitors etc
  •  To prepare Monthly Reports for Senior Management and the Board
  •  To work with the Business Development team in facilitating bespoke projects/R&D
  •  To support the marketing function of Cawood Scientific Ltd
  •  To participate in Industry events

Requirements

  •  Business Development or sales experience within the agricultural/environmental sectors
  •  Scientific/Agricultural/Environmental sector background desirable
  •  A team player
  •  Full UK driving license
  •  Flexibility to travel throughout the UK for customer meetings
  •  Good interpersonal skills
  •  Ideally educated to graduate level
  •  Confident personality and good telephone manner
  •  Excellent organiser
  •  IT proficient in Microsoft word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
  •  Flexibility in working hours
  •  Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
  •  Keen to learn and develop within the business
  •  Ability to prioritise
